Nicole Lewis and Lam Thuy Vo created the Audacity Lab to help a growing number of engagement journalists, mission-driven news non-profits and other change-makers interested in narrative. With a cumulative 30 years of experience in journalism and education, they aim to provide reporters, editors and strategists actionable frameworks and advice on how to better gear their work towards change.

Nicole Lewis

Nicole Lewis is a creative strategist, educator and engagement journalist. She currently serves as The Marshall Project’s engagement editor, leading the organization’s strategic efforts to reach people ensnared in the justice system. Previously she was the senior editor of the Jurisprudence section at Slate, a staff writer for The Marshall Project and a national reporter for The Washington Post. She has taught the next generation of journalists at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism and Hunter College.

Lam Thuy Vo

Lam Thuy Vo is a journalist who marries data analysis with on-the-ground reporting to examine how systems and policies affect individuals. She is currently an investigative reporter at Documented, an independent, non-profit newsroom dedicated to reporting with and for immigrant communities, and an associate professor of data journalism at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. Previously, she was a journalist at The Markup, BuzzFeed News, The Wall Street Journal, Al Jazeera America and NPR's Planet Money.
